RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs and manages product line strategies with respect to Profitability and Pricing to maximize value on a risk adjusted basis.
- Builds strategies, tactics and communications that effectively align with and support new business development and sales opportunities within the U.S division by taking an enterprise wide perspective.
- Accountable for the direction, development and management of pricing philosophy and strategies as well as the communication of outcomes to key stakeholders, including but not limited to: Product Management, Finance, Corporate Actuarial and Senior management.
- Leads the product pricing process.
- Ensure pricing models adequately reflect all product risk and return characteristics and assumptions are appropriate.
- Ensure product design and rates comply with federal, state/provincial regulatory and tax law.
- Recommend rates for approval to Product Management and the Chief Actuary that meet profit targets or other specified goals.
- Author and/or oversee the pricing report.
- Oversees regulatory product illustration requirements and related compliance issues in preparation to launch new products to market which includes:
- Approving all required actuarial documentation for regulatory approval.
- Responding to regulatory objections, support answers to questions, and recommend either product changes to achieve product approval or recommend alternate action to Product Management.
- In collaboration with the Product Management and Marketing teams lead the development and support the delivery of new product initiatives and enhancements to position, launch and promote company products to independent distribution partners in the U.S.
- Work with other teams, such as underwriting or Financial Actuarial to ensure their processes are adequate to support product initiatives.Demonstrated understanding of U.S competitors and customer research strategies to influence research plans relevant to various product lines.
- Develop & maintain a solid working knowledge of distribution partner systems and processes by establishing collaborative relationships with key sales leaders and stakeholders.
- Regularly collaborate with U.S division leaders on issues/initiatives affecting distribution partners.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to effectively develop, coach and mentor direct reports creating a positive, dynamic, results oriented sales and service culture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- FSA / FCIA
- 5+ years demonstrated success in pricing, illustrations and product design, specifically in life insurance products annuities product knowledge and pricing an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of U.S regulatory and compliance issues for both insurance and investment products.
- Strong understanding of the competitive independent distribution partner environment and industry norms and best practices for insurance products.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership on significant objectives by obtaining needed resources, setting and communicating standards for group performance and successfully leading teams.
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter, dedicated visionary leader that demonstrates initiative and the ability to work with a high sense of service and a high degree of collaboration. Demonstrated effectiveness in working with and communicating to senior management and key distribution partners,Exceptional ability to communicate complex insurance product/service information to various levels in the organization, as well as to clients, in a way that is meaningful to them.
