Department Overview: Each year GSK spends more than £8.6 billion on materials, services, and capital equipment. It is the role of Procurement to manage this spend and source suppliers for all strategic and operational purchases at GSK. The procurement deparment aim to enable GSK to achieve its operational and financial objectives, by delivering significant savings while meeting or exceeding all business requirements - including availability, quality, and service. Our core business process, Sourcing Group Management, involves cross-functional collaboration between Procurement professionals and our internal business partners to maximise the benefit of supplier agreements and contracts to GSK.


Key responsibilities:
• Assist in the development, management and implementation of comprehensive strategies in alignment with GSK and Procurement to deliver agreed and other benefits that significantly impact GSK financial results.
• Assist in the development and management of the external GMS supply chain providing supply of high quality and competitively priced materials and services, to meet GSK requirements.
• Help develop supply strategies delivering business requirements across assurance of supply, quality, regulatory, service, cost and inovation.
• Conduct basic supply, supplier and supply market research by gathering data from a variety of sources.
• Understands the key concepts of project management.
• Provide support for strategic relationships with critical suppliers providing secure and cost effective sources for relevant categories.
• Take part in cross functional sourcing group management teams with joint accountability for technical and quality performance. Implement initiatives and programs to improve quality of bought-in goods and services and reduce lead times.
• Ensure security of supply and risk management and contribute to the preparation of risk analysis and mitigation plans.
• Deliver excellence in customer service.
• Ensure regulatory compliance.
• Ensure effective communication and relationship development with key customers,, stakeholders and other Procurement personnel.
• Conducts basic negotiations


Requirements:
• A passion for Procurement and demonstrated interest in a career within this area shown through academic studies and/or previous work experience.
• Be studying for or have attained a Bachelors or Masters degree in either a Business related subject with a purchasing/procurement/supply chain or logistics focus/module OR a Science/Engineering subject with a procurement/purchasing interest.
• Fluent reading, written and spoken English
• Good interpersonal skills - including ability to seek advice and guidance where necessary and to work independently and as part of a team. Able to build good working relationships across all levels of the organisation
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and project ensuring delivery and overcoming challenges and setbacks.
• Confident when dealing with numbers – high level of numerical ability
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
