RESPONSIBILITIES
-This position supports studies of mortality, morbidity and lapse experience for all regions of the company, using Polysystems’ LifeMeasure, HealthMeasure, AnnuityMeasure and ULMeasure.
-The position will require creating exposure history where necessary, setting up, running, and trouble-shooting the programs that estimate expected mortality, morbidity & lapse under various assumptions, and compare actual experience with expected, developing SQL Server routines and Cognos reports to summarize results.
-Support history creation, set-up and processing for experience studies, verify that calculations are correct for audit samples, and examine results for reasonableness.
-Reconcile detailed claims data to reported financials, investigate differences, work with the field to streamline and automate data flow.
-Carry out studies already in production and help report on results.
-Assist in SOX documentation and experience studies.
-This position reports directly to the Actuary in charge of experience studies, who is responsible for establishing specific objectives and ensuring the existence of an effective operational environment.
-Relocation will be considered on a case by case basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-This role requires a minimum of a four-year college degree, preference given to majors in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics, or Business/Accounting.
-The qualified candidate will be progressing towards the attainment of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and have 2 to 3 years of Actuarial experience.
-Strong programming background including SQL, Visual Basic, and/or SAS
-Able to learn Polysystems software and utilities quickly
-Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
-Strong written and oral communication skills, with both actuaries and on-actuaries
-Accounting knowledge is a plus
-General knowledge of the actuarial techniques and professional requirements associated with financial reporting.
-Knowledge of GAAP reporting is a plus
-Ability to engage in various projects while meeting time constraints and maintaining appropriate corporate and professional standards.
