PLANT ENTOMOLOGY OFFICER.
Salary Scale : B2 Old : B$2775 - B$3280 per month
Period : 3 years 36 months or until Project completed contract


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION :-
• B.Sc degree Hons. in Plant Entomology / Crop Protection or Plant/Biological
Science or related field with major subject in Crop Protection, Plant-insect
interaction, Zoology, Integrated Pest Management of Tropical Crops with
minimum five5 years experience in insect taxanomy and identification,
advisory and research work in these field, other equivalent qualification will
also be considered.
• Higher qualification, on the above fields are preferred
Or
• Good understanding and have vast working experience in tropical crop’s
insect pest, especially on identification, collection and control and
management of major insect pest of agricultural importance
Or
• Working experience in research work on integrated Pest Management, insect
identification, collection and control are also preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
• To assist in conducting taxanomic works, identification and recommendation
on the control and management of Plant Pest, especially those caused by
insects, mite and vertebrate pest
• To assist in planning and conducting research work, compiling data and make
recommendation on the above and other related disciplines
• To assist in updating and upgrading of insect collection and insect taxanomic
work and database development in Plant Pest Laboratory, Crop Protection
Unit.
• Preparing reports, leaflets documentation of plant pest data and informations
Database for references.
• Provide pest advisory services, and recommendation of control and
management techniques for the farming community.
• To assist in implementating Integrated Pest Management Programme on
major crops to the extension staffs and farmers.
• To assist Head Unit in upgrading the services, equipments and facilities of the
laboratory
• Conduct field visit for monitoring, survey and surveillance of pest problem in
farmer’s field and agricultural stations and collecting samples for pest
identification.
• Other task assigned by Senior Officers in the Department.

Successful candidates will be appointed initially on a term contract basis.
Renewal will be subject mutual agreement.
Appointment will be immediate for successful candidates.
